    We have partnered up with the Edinburgh International Book Festival again this year to present two Meet Your Maker events and workshops. Just a stone's throw away from our Summer Show at White Stuff on George Street, we will support two free drop-in events for families, part of the Baillie Gifford Children's Programme.

    Georgia Crook is an artist/maker who lives and has a workshop overlooking Loch Tay in Highland Perthshire. She has over 20 years' experience in arts/crafts making and tailored workshop provision, for a wide range of client groups. Her own work is mainly inspired by cultural and natural heritage, combining basketry, paper and textile techniques.

  • Four Corners of Craft: Etsy Exhibition for London Design Festival


    The London Design Festival is the highlight of the UK design calendar, where the world gathers to celebrate great craft and design. This year, Craft Scotland is involved in a partner exhibition with Etsy and various craft organisations from around the UK. The selling exhibition of cross-disciplinary contemporary craft is on from 24 to 27 September 2015.

  • Craft Tourism Experiences: Introducing Strathearn Fleece & Fibre


    Strathearn Fleece & Fibre is the place where all things woolly happen. Fleece produced on the farm and locally sourced is hand-dyed and then transformed into fibre and yarns for spinners, felters and knitters. At the studio visitors can browse the fantastic range of yarns and fibres, learn about different sheep breeds, the uses of the fibres and take home a woolly piece of Perthshire.

  • Orkney Crafts Association Craft Trail


    Established in the 1990s, the Orkney Craft Trail guides visitors to many workshops around the islands, where you can meet craft makers at work.

  • Craft Tourism Experiences: Textile Printing with Laura Spring


    Located on the north side of Glasgow at Grey Wolf Studios, Laura's studio is easily accessible by public transport from Glasgow City Centre and also offers free parking. Here she runs her popular monthly one-day class in screen-printing, but Laura can also offer screen-printing classes at locations to suit the client. Previous workshops have been held in hospitals, day centres, museums, galleries and botanic gardens.

  • Makers selected for SOFA Chicago 2015


    Eleven makers have been selected to present their work with Craft Scotland this year. Jessamy Kelly returns to the exposition having shown with us in 2012, the remaining ten makers are first time-exhibitors with Craft Scotland at SOFA Chicago.

    Jane Wilkinson is a willow artisan who specialises in the design and creation of traditional and contemporary willow baskets; bespoke willow fences for gardens; coracles for the bushcraft enthusiast and large public installations for councils and corporate bodies. Based in Alyth, surrounded by mountains and in the heart of 'Perthshire Big Tree Country' Jane gets both her inspiration and resources from the local environment.

  • Meet Your Maker: Look Inside at Aberdeen's Look Again Festival


    Artist group Look Inside will be hosting a Meet Your Maker event during Aberdeen's inaugural Look Again Festival. Four makers from a variety of disciplines will give a rare, behind-the-scenes look at their craft work, teaching visitors about their inspiration, practices and profession.

  • Meet Your Maker at Stirling Castle


    As part of the 2014/15 Meet Your Maker campaign, Craft Scotland partnered with Historic Scotland in an innovative new community programme that saw contemporary Scottish craft take inspiration from the past to create new work. The results of the project are currently being showcased in an exhibition at Stirling Castle, open until the end of April 2015.

  • Meet Your Maker at Cambo Estate, Fife


    Sunday 22 March will see six accomplished makers demonstrate their work at Cambo Estate in Fife. Each maker will showcase their talents and offer visitors the chance to try their hand at a wide variety of craft, including weaving, silk painting, jewellery, ceramics and feltmaking.

  • Laura Murray: Meet Your Maker at Stirling Castle


    In late 2014 Craft Scotland put out a call for makers to take part in a community engagement project with Historic Scotland, working directly with a youth or community group in Stirling Castle over a period of six weeks. Historic Scotland was looking for a maker who could unlock the potential of traditional or contemporary craft, enabling learners to discover more about their cultural heritage and providing creative inspiration linked to stories, people and events from the past.

  • Meet Your Maker: Fife Contemporary Art & Craft at St Andrews Museum


    Fife Contemporary Art & Craft will host a Meet Your Maker event at St Andrews Museum on Sunday 22 February. The event will offer a behind the scenes look at the work of two practicing jewellers, Andrew Lamb and Dorothy Hogg MBE.
