Georgia Crook is an artist/maker who lives and has a workshop overlooking Loch Tay in Highland Perthshire. She has over 20 years' experience in arts/crafts making and tailored workshop provision, for a wide range of client groups. Her own work is mainly inspired by cultural and natural heritage, combining basketry, paper and textile techniques.
Jane Wilkinson is a willow artisan who specialises in the design and creation of traditional and contemporary willow baskets; bespoke willow fences for gardens; coracles for the bushcraft enthusiast and large public installations for councils and corporate bodies. Based in Alyth, surrounded by mountains and in the heart of 'Perthshire Big Tree Country' Jane gets both her inspiration and resources from the local environment.
Culzean Castle will host a Meet Your Maker event on Monday 13, Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 October, to coincide with their Big Draw event. During Meet Your Maker at Culzean Castle, visitors will have the chance to peek behind the scenes at the willow work of David Powell, and the stained glass creations of Sue Wilkinson.
As part of the Peebles Arts Festival, The Chambers Institution (a complex of buildings encompassing the Tweeddale Museum and Gallery) will host a Meet Your Maker event over two Saturdays in August; offering visitors a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the practice of an established willow artist: Toni Coyle.
