Strathearn Fleece & Fibre is the place where all things woolly happen. Fleece produced on the farm and locally sourced is hand-dyed and then transformed into fibre and yarns for spinners, felters and knitters. At the studio visitors can browse the fantastic range of yarns and fibres, learn about different sheep breeds, the uses of the fibres and take home a woolly piece of Perthshire.
Experienced kilt maker Marion Foster handcrafts and restores kilts using traditional methods, as well as running kilt making workshops at her studio in Perthshire.
At Orains, Fiona Page and Pieter van der Werf design and create fabulous interior design items and art pieces made with local sheep wool. The Orains studio is located on the West Coast in an area of outstanding scenic beauty and overlooks Loch Riddon and the Kyles of Bute.
Sunday 22 March will see six accomplished makers demonstrate their work at Cambo Estate in Fife. Each maker will showcase their talents and offer visitors the chance to try their hand at a wide variety of craft, including weaving, silk painting, jewellery, ceramics and feltmaking.
Gillian Cooper offers a range of specialist surface design and stitch courses, talks and demonstrations tailor-made to suit small groups and individuals from her home studio in Balfron, rural Stirlingshire. These courses can be tailored to suit all from complete beginners to the more experienced.
Saturday 04 and Sunday 05 October will be October Felt Weekend at Borders Textile Towerhouse. As part of the celebrations, they will host two feltmakers, Ewa Kuniczak and Ann Ross, for a Meet Your Maker event offering visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the practice of two textile artists.
The Haining will introduce their annual programme of events for 2015 with a four-day Meet Your Maker event from 08 to 11 August 2014; offering visitors the chance for a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the practice of two textile makers: Julia Complin and Vicky Swales.
Visitors are made very welcome to Louise's studio in Kilmartin Glen in the heart of Argyll, where they will find a light, airy space filled with colours and the warm aroma of wool.
