Anita is a textile artist and designer, inspired by the beaches and hills of Scotland, integrating words from her diaries, along with found materials, using a variety of traditional craft, printing and needlework techniques, to construct abstract and sculptural art textiles.
A new exhibition is created for Pittenweem arts festival each year.
Creating, preserving and prompting memory, are the underlying themes of her work. She uses her love of exploring Scotland, especially the beaches, to provide material that is transformed into textile 'aide memoirs'.
Anita graduated from the University of Dundee with a Master of Design and a BDes (hons) textile design degree in constructed textiles. During the Masters programme Anita was looking after a relative with dementia, so she used the course time to investigate how textiles and crafts could be used to improve communication with the elderly and for people with dementia. Anita now runs art and craft art therapy sessions with a local college.
Anita is a member of Edge-Scottish textile artists, PVAF, SSA, FDPW and EG.
