About Me

Personal Statement

Julie uses willow to produces a range of traditional, functional baskets including log baskets, cradles, and lobster pots. She has also developed her own designs and creates more decorative pieces that often incorporate different varieties of willow, hedgerow materials or found objects, like shells, to create pattern, colour and texture.

Having trained with professional Scottish, Irish and English basketmakers, Julie makes strong, quality baskets that are both durable and aesthetically pleasing.

Julie lives on the Isle of Arran and has worked as a self employed basketmaker now for 5 years. She is a member of the Basketmakers Association and the Scottish Basketmakers Circle and has exhibited at several exhibitions including Plantweave, Royal Botanic Gardens, Focal Point, Touring Exhibition, Craft Ayrshire, and Artisan, Edinburgh Festival.

She teaches courses and runs workshops for adults and children, details of which can be found on her website.
