About Me

Personal Statement

At Kates Original Tweed Company of Inveraray we pride ourselves in the fact that only the finest local materials are used in out totally handmade kilts. Where possible organic and natural alternatives are used. Each kilt is unique, from beautiful Scottish tartans to the tweeds of Harris using red deer hide buckles and straps.

Many traditional kiltmakers profess to making handmade kilts, but use modern sewing machines to attach waistbands and sometimes even the pleats. Here every stitch is sewn by hand, with each garment made to the client's exact requirements.
