Matthew makes furniture from wood. His work is robust, informal and honest – inspired by the craftsmen of old. The furniture is constructed to allow for the natural movement of wood, which is a living medium with its own history. Matthew works to commission and takes pleasure in translating his customers’ ideas into pieces of furniture that are beautiful, useful and designed to last.
Stencilling often depicts the form and wildlife urrounding the workshop. Other materials include: iron, glass, ceramic tiles, stone, leather and rope. An exhibition of work is on show.
