Susie Thompson works in fine porcelain. She designs and makes delightful, and often amusing, small hand-built decorative pieces. They are all unique, and are finely modelled with intricate detail. Her work is of high quality, for collectors to treasure both today and in years to come. Her range includes lidded boxes decorated with tiny flowers, dragons full of character, for which she is well known, and much more.
Susie brings rainbows of colour to some of her pieces, using enamels and often lustres. Others are especially made in greater detail and are deliberately left unglazed and uncoloured (bisque ware). This draws attention to the delicacy of her work - light and shade alone emphasizing the fine detail.
Since childhood Susie has been fascinated and inspired by the skills and techniques of English and European porcelain producers of the 18th and 19th centuries, and these can often be seen in her work. These traditional skills have been overlooked for too long in this hurried world of ours. Susie takes the time to create collectable porcelain for today.
Susie Thompson welcomes commissions.
